Caramel Color is Safe and Harmless. It is “neither genotoxic nor carcogenic,” according to a March report by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) affirms its safety in any amount consistent with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
